Summer Survival Schedules

School is officially out! Time to get out the summer schedules.

In order for me to get through the summer we have created schedules to keep us on track and me sane! We try to follow them. Although we do deviate from them they provide a plan for our days rather than wondering what to do. The kids like them and will often keep me on track. During the school year they are use to being on a structured schedule and thrive on it. This provides them and me with that.

These are our schedules from two years ago...

Last year when Camryn was born I didn't have our schedules in place and the summer was rough!  I think I may have gone a little crazy. New baby, no schedule equals crazy household, crazy mom and well lots of grumpy days! So we are back on track.

I've made a few changes and added a few activities to our list.

Here is a peek at our new schedules.  In years past where I have put on the schedule  Free Time, Cooking Time, Science, Art, Etc it would correspond with the I'm Bored list for the kids to look at to see what they can do during that time. I've added things to our list as now my girls are older.  I also have my kids work on some type of math, reading and writing during the summer so their brains don't turn to mush. :0
These schedules seemed to work in the past so we are sticking with it! I try to plan one bigger activity once a week. Something for all of us to look forward to. This week we are going to the Jelly Belly Factory! It's free (bonus!) and  it gets us out of the house and together!

What do you have planned for the summer? What helps keeps you sane during the summer months? Any fun activities you like to do with your kids? Please share in the comments! I'd love to hear what you do!

I have been thinking for well over a month now that I needed to come up with a summer schedule. This is wonderful! I love it and will be putting some of your ideas in with mine!
